This policy explains which cookies timbershedco.com uses, what each category does and how to change your choice at any time. It sits alongside our privacy policy.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies let a site remember what is in your basket, keep you signed in, and – if you allow it – count visits or measure advertising. Some are set by us, some by services we use, such as our payment provider.
2. Our consent banner
We use Complianz GDPR as our consent management platform. The first time you visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen before any non-essential cookie is placed. You can accept everything, refuse everything, or open the preferences panel and choose category by category. Nothing but the strictly necessary category runs until you choose.
Your choice is stored in a consent cookie for 12 months, after which you are asked again. We keep a record of the consent given, as UK GDPR requires.
3. Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your mind at any time, with no penalty. Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page – it reopens the same preferences panel. Refusing statistics and marketing cookies does not affect your ability to browse, order or return anything.
4. The categories we use
Functional (strictly necessary) – always on
These cookies are required for the shop to work and cannot be switched off. They do not need consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
- woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_* – remember what is in your basket and keep your session alive through checkout. Session to 2 days.
- wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* – keep you signed in to your account and remember your admin preferences. Session to 1 year.
- cmplz_* (Complianz) – stores the consent choice you made in the banner. 12 months.
- __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid (Stripe) – fraud prevention on the payment form. 1 year and 30 minutes respectively.
Preferences
Remember choices you make, such as a dismissed notice or a display preference, so the site behaves the way you left it. Set only with your consent.
Statistics
Aggregated, anonymous measurement: how many people visited, which pages they read, which product pages lead to an order. We use this to fix pages that are not working, never to identify you. Set only with your consent.
Marketing
Used to measure or target advertising across sites. Timbershedco currently sets no marketing cookies. The category appears in the banner so that, if we ever add one, it cannot run without your explicit permission.
5. Region and how the banner behaves
Our shop serves the United Kingdom, so the banner runs in opt-in mode: statistics and marketing cookies stay blocked until you actively accept them. Scrolling or continuing to browse is not treated as consent.
6. Third-party cookies
Cookies set by Stripe on the payment form are covered by Stripe’s privacy policy. Carrier tracking pages you open from our order tracking page are operated by DPD and Parcelforce under their own cookie policies. We have no control over cookies set on those sites.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings – look for “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data” in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Blocking all cookies will stop the basket and checkout from working.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie we update this page and the date at the top. Where a new cookie needs consent, the banner will ask you again.
